Continuity and Profitability
One major petrochemical company in the Middle
East used Moxa's industrial Ethernet switches
on factory floors, but relied on commercial-
grade switches in the control room, where two
redundant air-conditioners were installed to keep
the temperature within the comfortable operating
range of commercial switches.
PROBLEM: Whenever the air conditioners
malfunctioned, the control room switches shut
down. Costly production interruptions and
constant switch replacements began to take a
serious toll on the operational efficiency of the
facility.
SOLUTION: Eventually, the facility decided to
deploy Moxa's industrial rackmount switches in
the control room, which work stably in a -40 to
75°C temperature range. This single change has
successfully saved the company a great deal
of maintenance and troubleshooting cost. The
network, from edge devices to the control room,
is now consistently reliable to the same industrial
standard, which has improved productivity and
translated into a significant reduction in total cost
of ownership.
