Trustworthy Connectivity
under Extreme EMC
Error-free Data Transmissions under Harsh EMC Interference
Moxa’s PowerTrans series is a line of IEC 61850-3 and IEEE 1613 compliant Ethernet switches that can withstand extreme
EMC without any packet loss or GOOSE messaging communication errors, making them ideal for power substation
automation, or other extreme EMC conditions. The PowerTrans switches also support the IEEE 1588v2 standard to provide
nanosecond-precise time synchronization of network devices in timing-critical applications. Moreover, to perform flawlessly
in extreme conditions, the PowerTrans switch supports fanless operation in a wide temperature range of -40 to 85°C.
Optimized Solutions for IEC-61850-3
Substation Automation
Key Features:
• NoiseGuard™ zero packet loss technology
• Packet Priority to ensure reliable transmission of critical data
• Built-in MMS server for power substation SCADA integration
• ST/SC fiber DDM (Digital Diagnostic Monitoring) for easy troubleshooting
• Configuration wizard for fast configuration and installation
Complete IEC 61850-3
Substation Automation
Solutions
Moxa offers complete IEC
61850-3 certified solutions for
smart substation automation,
aiming to achieve integrated
management and extreme
system reliability. Our PT series
industrial Ethernet switches work
as the communication backbone
of the entire substation, which
are connected to the DA series
embedded computer for data
processing and monitoring.
Moreover, we offer serial device
servers for connecting legacy
devices, such as RTUs and meters.
The World’s First Switch Using MMS
In smart substations, secondary devices such as IEDs (Intelligent Electronic
Devices) are monitored by power SCADA systems via the MMS protocol. Traditional
Ethernet switches, however, can only be controlled and monitored via the SNMP
protocol. Therefore, substation engineers are required to maintain two different
systems for system management and maintenance.
With Moxa’s PT-7528, the world’s first Ethernet switch to support the MMS
protocol, you can easily monitor the Ethernet switches along with secondary
devices on a single SCADA system, achieving integrated and effortless automation
control and management.
